Day 3 of NaNo and I've just decided I'm going to do it after all. I've had this steampunk idea stuck in my head for quite a while now and since I'm almost done with edits on my current project, it does seem like the perfect time? (No I don't need to finish editing the other thing first, shut up.) I have the plot. It really should write itself? Ahhh, okay. Outlining first.

EDIT: Also, as a reward for almost finishing my new novel draft, I just ordered this T-shirt. :D

First day of NaNo and I have already veered off course, starting a new novel-length piece of fanfiction instead of the 50k of original story I had planned. I'M STILL GOING TO WRITE ORIGINAL FICTION. Just... I'm gonna do both. I can totally do both, right? 100k in a month. It's completely manageable. I'll just give up eating and sleeping and spend less (or no) time at work and I CAN DO THIS.

I'm just ridiculously excited about both stories. Of course this means I'll have to improve my time-management skills and develop something at least resembling an organized mind within the next... ten minutes? But hey, can't be that difficult.

Okay. I have to be back at work in 13 hours and I still have to sleep, clean the bathroom, eat, fix the light in the kitchen and write 4,000 words before then. Doesn't really sound so bad, does it?

It's NaNo month. This is meant to be madness. I'm SO LOOKING FORWARD TO IT.

EDIT: Also, isn't it kind of awesome that our new dishwasher was delivered the day NaNo starts? EVEN MORE TIME FOR WRITING. Life is good.

50 222 WORDS!

There are still large gaps in my novel and some scenes are still missing, but whatever, right? I DID IT! *pops open bottle of champagne*

NaNoWriMo is DONE. Hee.

I won't tell you how many words I am behind on NaNo. Let's just say I'm rather far behind. *g* At least, it's finally taking shape. I have characters that actually behave like characters, I have a plot idea (and it's only the 16th!! *gasp*) and it's working fine. main character won't talk to me. She barely told me her name and showed me her house, and now she sits in a corner sulking because I gave her the wrong haircolour or something. Gah. I hate when characters develop a life of their own.

Actually, my most sparkling character so far is a dear old lady by the name of Grandma Flo. Her real name is Florentine, but she doesn't like it. She's eighty-three, a witch, and spends her days hunting for a rich boyfriend who will take her to Cuba, because she always wanted to go there. In the evening she sits on a bench near the wood stove, knitting stockings of gigantic sizes for her granddaughter's boyfriend, whom she calls "sweetie". (The granddaughter happens to be my main character, yay.)

So, Rest Of November, I hope you cooperate more nicely than your first half. *opens NaNo document again*

I'm still fighting with my NaNo thingy. It won't cooperate. I have something, but it's really not good. I also need to continue writing that SVU fic (Hide and Seek) that I started, cos I hate leaving things unfinished. But I'm stuck on that too. Grrr.

Also, I'm not going to Manchester. I really wanted to, but there's no way on earth I can afford it right now. You flisters who are going, have some extra fun for me, okay? *hugs to you all* I wanted to see you all again, but maybe some other time. Next time we're all going somewhere, I'll be going too. For real.

Term Paper Of Doom has decided to be a little more cooperative lately, but I'm still four pages short of finishing it and I've run out of research material. I think I've read the entire psycholinguistics shelf in the library and if I have to read one more essay on code-switching or the difference between consecutive and simultaneous interpretation I'm gonna scream, so instead I'm going to catch a movie with M, since she's also stuck in Term Paper Hell. Yay.

That is all.

*is amused*

Haha, I'm 543 words into my NaNoWriMo novel and already stuck. Oh awesomeness. Dear Brain, please start cooperating, will you? Kthxbai.

Also, I have started watching Blood Ties last night. Kind of a Loser!Halloween (yay, vampires) since M's party somehow never got out of the planning stage. I think I like it.

Dragged my tired self out of bed this morning to go to a class only to see it was cancelled when I got there. So M, R and I went to the cafeteria instead and overdosed on caffeine. My life rocks.

*wanders off to watch Private Practice*

Money: I am finally getting paid for my summer job. A month after I quit. Almost four months after I started. Yay.

Roommate: comes back today. New roommate. She's already lived here all of last week, but I haven't. It's so weird having someone else live in my apartment. Last roomie was different cos I already knew her before.

Writing: is going extremely slow. I have decided to be optimistic about it and say I'm saving my energy for NaNo. Which I am really looking forward to even if I don't know what I'm gonna write yet.

Private Practice: is an awesome show. Never liked Grey's all that much, but Private Practice is love. Can't wait for the next episode.

Firefly: best show ever. Am re-watching and re-rewatching over and over and it's still awesome. I wanna say "shiny" all the time and I really want to learn to swear in Chinese. New roomie studies Chinese. I'll make her teach me.

Partying: is not a good idea if you're already sick. Yes. I should have thought of that before I went to old roomie's new place to party last night. At least I don't have to be anywhere today. Gonna spend the day watching more Firefly.
