So in an attempt to distract myself I have finally started catching up on Doctor Who, which I had stopped watching after Matt Smith left.

What was that thing going around a while ago about how Nine was a tiger, Ten was Tigger, Eleven was the housecat who pretends he meant to do that after falling off the furniture, and Twelve was Grumpy Cat? Because I've always agreed with the first three, but the last one seems very accurate as well.

I don't hate Twelve, but Eleven won me over faster. And I'm getting a little tired of Clara tbh. But then it's hard for any companion to live up to Martha Jones or Amy Pond. I'm almost through with the last season. I just want to be done in time to watch the Christmas Special.

Instead of dealing with real life events for a few minutes, let me instead direct my emotions at TV shows. Specifically Doctor Who 8x12.

Spoilers ahead )

Because I have no writing news (editing Angsty Thing and Oh My God it's hideous, not expecting it to be ready to share any time soon), here's a post about TV.

Doctor Who. New episode tonight; I remain sceptical. I didn't dislike last week's episode, but I kind of do dislike Twelve? And Clara is just all over the place, and it's not just all connected to Danny Pink. Who, by the way, I still just cannot warm up to. *shrugs*. I still think Clara worked very well with Eleven, but Twelve could use someone like Donna. Or, you know, just anyone to tell him he's a massive jerk.

Merlin. Still re-watching, even though I am now in the middle of season 3 which is where I always start losing focus. Still, Goblin's Gold remains one of the funniest episodes I have ever seen, that one alone makes all of season 3 almost completely worth it.

Orphan Black. Finally started watching since my sister gave me the season 1 DVDs. I have only watched four episodes so far, though, so DO NOT TELL ME WHAT HAPPENS. But I like it. Very impressed with Tatiana Maslany. It is nice to watch a show that's not quite so dude-heavy and I have been craving something that has an actual plot, so yes, all good things. I shall reward myself with another episode once I've finished my editing for the day.

The Flash. Finally watched the first two episodes, and I'm definitely going to keep watching! I think Grant Gustin is doing a wonderful job in it, and even if it could have done with a bit more introduction, I really did like it. I hope they cut back a little on the inspirational speeches and the pathos, but then it does kind of go with the genre. Can't wait for the next episode!

...Why am I watching so many things all of a sudden?

Doctor Who. Finally watched "Kill The Moon" and under a cut because spoilery in case you need even longer than I to watch the episodes )

Merlin. Since I apparently like to torture myself I have started re-watching Merlin. I just like that show too much and I know it's going to make me 1) very angry and 2) cry. But I LIKE THAT SHOW TOO MUCH. But this also means I should finish reading The Once And Future King, because that's an awful lot of Arthurian legend in my life otherwise.

Writing. Almost done with Angsty Thing! Just a few more scenes and then editing shall begin! Still thinking about NaNo ... I still have lots of almost-ideas, and haven't really had the time to just sit down and brainstorm any of them so far.

Hope you're all well! <3

Work was quiet today. Everyone in the office is either sick or on vacation, so it was just my boss and me today. Which means I got the chance to play receptionist for a day. Well. Basically, I just sat in the receptionist's chair, but no one came in and no one called, so it wasn't really all that spectacular. Boss sent me home early because there was no work. Seriously, I don't mind having an easy job over the summer, but this is turning out to be pretty ridiculous. But I won't complain. This job pays for London.

I am finally making progress on that psycholinguistics paper. On that note, I still have to enrol at university for the next semester. I have only six days left to do that. I think there's a subconscious reason I put this off for so long. But I am going to do it. I am. I swear.

In random news, I have the irresistible urge to watch Torchwood again. And Doctor Who, some old episodes with Rose. Ten and Rose preferably, although I also would like to see some Nine episodes again.

Okay, back to studying.

Happy Birthday Taru! I hope you have a fantastic day!

Since I can't send cake via internet I wrote you a little Doctor Who drabble instead. Tenth Doctor, set after "The Christmas Invasion."

So, I've finally seen 'New Earth'. And I loved it. I absolutely loved it!

I was a bit skeptical at first whether David Tennant would be able to fill Chris Eccleston's shoes, because, seriously, the ninth doctor was more than awesome!!! But I liked Tennant in 'the Christmas Invasion' and thought he and Rose definitely had chemistry, and, omg, this episode totally confirmed it!!

I think I really have to get back to my Latin homework now :)
